Professor at the second-tier level, Doctoral Supervisor, President of Shanxi Medical University, Member of the Basic Medical Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Deputy Director of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Director of the Key Laboratory of Coal Environmental Pathogenesis and Prevention of the Ministry of Education. He has presided over over 10 projects, including the key project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China's Joint Fund for Regional Innovation and Development titled "Research on Important Susceptibility Factors, Pathogenesis, and Early Intervention of Folate-Unresponsive Neural Tube Defects" and the national key research and development plan's topic on "Health Economics Evaluation and Implementation Study of Large-Scale COVID-19 Vaccination." He has published over 100 papers in journals such as Biomaterials, Advanced Healthcare Materials, JACC-Basic to Translational Science, Cell Death & Disease, and International Journal of Biological Macromolecules. He has obtained over 10 invention patents and has won numerous awards, including the second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award and the first and second prizes of the Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Award.

The Jie Jun team has long been committed to studying the "environment-gene" interaction in coal resource areas, focusing on the molecular mechanisms related to the regulation, polymorphism, and epigenetic modifications of specific genes in the Han population in Shanxi Province that are associated with the occurrence of neural tube defects. They have proposed a hypothesis regarding the role of Ca2+ signal-mediated CaMKII-MAPK signaling pathways in the apoptosis mechanism of neural tube defects in neural stem cells, and confirmed the role of HOX genes in the pathogenesis of neural tube defects using epigenetic methods. This research is of significant importance for improving the quality of the population.
